Jack Canfield on Success Principle #50
Most people are familiar with the name Jack Canfield. He’s America’s #1 Success Coach, and is the founder of the billion-dollar book brand Chicken Soup for the Soul© and a leading authority on Peak Performance and Life Success. The Chicken Soup For the Soul Series is truly his claim to fame and he’s recognized the world over for his collection of heart-warming stories. However, in the last number of years his focus has shifted and geared toward teaching you the Principles of Success. The Success Principles were written to show you How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. There are 64 Principles in the book… but today, I have chosen the one that resonates with me the most.
Success Principle #50 wants you to Tell The Truth Faster. It’s a known fact that most people avoid telling the truth for three reasons. They’re afraid that it might make someone: 1) uncomfortable, 2) hurt, or 3) angry. If we don’t tell the truth, we can’t really live in reality, and neither can others. Telling the truth frees everyone to deal with things the way they really are; not the way we wish they were.
What happens when you tell the truth?
When we withhold secrets about ourselves, it takes up a lot of our energy. On the other hand, when we release the truth about something or someone, our focus shifts away from what we were hiding and the simplicity of what we should spend our lives doing.
Hiding the truth takes up an enormous amount of energy. When one finally gets the courage to speak the truth out loud everything starts to change. The alternatives to that are sleep deprivation and going through life in somewhat of a fog. Hiding the truth has other side affects such as physical ailments and stress.
To tell the truth is freeing, with it comes greater energy and clarity of mind. Tasks that used to be overwhelming became completed. The ability to experience joy was in the forefront and not on the back burner.
What do you need to share?
Three things people most need to share:
1) resentments that have built up; 2) the unmet needs that underlie those resentments; and 3) appreciations.
When is the best time to tell the truth?
Generally, if we’re asking ourselves when we should tell the truth, the answer is now. We’ll probably be uncomfortable, and it may create lots of reactions. But telling the truth immediately is the right thing to do in most cases.
If we say, “But I don’t want to hurt their feelings,” we’re telling a lie. What’s really happening is that we don’t want to hurt our own feelings. We’re avoiding how we will feel when they get upset. This is the coward’s way out. Hiding the truth always backfires. The longer we withhold it, the worse things get for everyone involved.
As Jack pointed out, refusing to speak or hear the truth does not allow people to dwell in reality. Instead, they remain trapped in a world of their own invention.
How can we discern what’s best for us if we’re afraid to hear the truth about ourselves? How can we find the energy we need to cope with life if we’re using it all up to hold back the truth?
On a sheet of paper, write down all of the resentments you feel toward people who have failed to meet your needs. Speak the truth in love where it is appropriate. Try to make a commitment to tell the truth faster. By doing so, you will free yourself and others to live in reality, not in an imaginary world that doesn’t exist.
There’s never been a better time to reflect on where you have been, and where you are going. It’s time to get serious about having complete financial and personal freedom in your life. We can show you how!

Live in Mindfulness | Global Internet Success
Over the last twenty years I have met many people who want to learn how to live in mindfulness. The rules are simple. Mindfulness has been described as a way of life, a journey in self-discovery and an education. For me it has been all about living deliberately and purposefully. Mindfulness is about being in the present moment at all times. To life a spiritual life is not about any theories, we have to be able to live that life one day at a time.
Mindfulness is a practical way to live. For many who are just beginning to embrace some of the concepts the following are suggestions to enable you to make it a reality.
1. One Day At A Time The idea of this can be baffling to some initially. It is not a new concept… sometimes you have to be able to live one minute at a time. Problems tend to arise when we are getting too far ahead of ourselves into the future, or thinking too much about the past. It is the only sensible way to live. But, it takes practice, lots of it.
2. Do One Thing at a Time Multitasking is toggling between one task and another. When you are cooking a meal, just try to cook the meal. The same goes for when you are eating the meal, just try to concentrate on the one task, eating. Keep it simple! The image that comes to mind when I am multitasking is the women who looks like an octopus with the eight arms all doing different things at once. Did you know that your brain can actually only handle one cognitive function at a time? Multitasking gives the appearance of efficiency but in essence slows down our thinking, and messes with our attention. In addition it causes stress, depression and limits our ability to connect with others on a meaningful level.
3. Be Mindful of Your Thoughts and Feelings From time to time we all have negative thoughts or feelings of anger or resentment. The trick is not to identify with them. Think of them like thoughts that run through a passing stream, you are merely observing them. That is all they are… thoughts and feelings, nothing more, nothing less. Try to discover what is going on and gain some insight into what is really happening. When you impersonalize both the thoughts and the feelings you destroy the power that they have over you and you begin to gain awareness.
4. Relax At Intervals Throughout the Day Learn to be still by taking periods of calm and quiet throughout the day. Take note of any tensions that have arisen in your mind and body. Imagine it passing down through your body, through your feet and right into the ground. Learn the art of how to prefer quietness to noise. Inhale and exhale three long, deep breaths at regular intervals throughout the day.
5. Empty Your Mind to Let Go Of Negative Thoughts And Feelings. Something I have learned how to say is “I am now emptying my mind of all anxiety [or fear/anger/resentment].”
Try Not to Carry The Day Into Night, or identify with anything. Suffering stops when you refuse to identify with anything negative. A combination of insight and understanding, coupled with a sincere desire for positive change, will destroy painful negatives.
6. Meditate for at least 15 minutes once a day. Some prefer to meditate in the morning and others in the evening. Only you know what works best for you. Let experience be your guide.
7. Accept the inevitable. Challenges will arise in your life, and life itself can be hard at times, not to mention unfair. Those who have learned how to overcome adversity are the ones who tend to lead a happier life.
8. Happiness is a choice. “we manufacture either our own happiness or our own unhappiness by the thoughts we habitually think … regardless of what happens to us! ” ~Norman Vincent Peale. One spiritual truth states – it is impossible to be unhappy in the present moment, for all unhappiness is rooted in either the past (in the form of memories) or the future (in the form of anticipations and fears). Clearly, mindfulness is the way to freedom.
9. Get Your Mind Off Yourself. Do you ever find that many problems disappear when we focus on others rather than ourselves? It’s everywhere you look: self-centredness, self-obsession, self-absorption. These are the maladies of mind and our body results from all of these things! Get out of your way! It will do you a world of good.
10. This Too Shall Pass. Things are constantly changing and evolving. Many spend too much time working and not enough living. Life is short. So, go ahead, seize the moment!
There’s never been a better time to reflect on where you have been, and where you are going. It’s time to get serious about having complete financial and personal freedom in your life. We can show you how!

Be a Conscious Online Contributor – Part III
In my previous articles, “Be a Conscious Online Contributor Parts I and II,” I discussed using the Laws of Attraction bring about awareness to personal development in regards to wealth, health and wellness. In order to gain better online visibility I typically write and post about three new articles each day. The equation that best illustrates my point is Better visibility = More Visitors More Visitors = Increased Sales.
Being a conscious online contributor takes both time and patience. When your mindset is right you will start to go places. One of the main ideas that always stuck with me was that everyone in Wealth Masters always shared their ideas and their knowledge, it was in essence sharing their wealth. Over time, I’d learned so much from the experts, but what I need to learn was how to be a mentor to others. After years of working in the field, I could definitely contribute to someone who was just starting out. When I focused on helping a select group it felt awesome!
Here’s the thing, making online contributions pays huge dividends. For me this included making friends, new opportunities and business deals. How did these people find me? They came across one of my articles by chance which sent them to the website, which lead them to see what else I have to offer in terms of products or services or free eBooks, well you get the picture! The list is endless. The financial results of writing an article make it easy to sustain and continue on.
A major motivator for me, and it’s not solely based on money, is about cultivating relationships that support me in my chosen field. If I’m sensitive to someone else’s needs it will be reciprocated. This is so necessary when people begin their journey as an entrepreneur, there is just so much to learn, so many questions to ask. They may think let’s just get this business off the ground, now. It’s an ideal mindset, but is it realistic to think that everything will run smooth as silk? What I can share with others can save both time and money, and who wouldn’t want that?
There are those who are generous with their value, and just about anyone who works in the personal development field long enough has provided me with amazing insights. I personally have learned a lot from those who are respected in my field, I have feasted on their books, their articles, and was captivated by their lectures. They were beneficial and saved a lot of time and helped me more than they will ever know. When I pass on what I’ve learned, others benefit from it, too. It’s that simple!
If you are a decent writer, it isn’t that hard to get published. Many online authors write and self-publish their works, and offer it free of charge on their website as a downloadable PDF file called an eBook. This way when people opt into that area on your site and it raises your level of readership but also adds new clients to your database.
Conscious online contributions create awareness, and awareness is like planting trees. Writing free articles produced both positive validation and positive results. I call this having a generosity of spirit, and it’s a good habit I developed over a 21-day period.
Not everyone’s motivation for being in business is the same. I had to reach the conclusion that I wanted a more successful business, and to feel connected with those in the personal development field. What I do matters, and I make a difference to people. Working for myself can be isolating at times, but not so much if I feel I can connect to others. My incentive to succeed was solely based on that.
I cannot tell you how exactly how to make a difference but I’ve written articles on ideas, how-to advice, lessons I’ve learned, and mistakes that I’d avoid in the future. I have helped to motivate and encourage someone by sharing my enthusiasm. What I got back surprised me there have been many who were grateful to learn from me. The best thing I learned was the knowledge and expertise I’ve acquired over the years is worth sharing. You know what is the best thing of all? I was able to make the connection. Contributing makes life so much easier. That’s why leaders do it.
There’s never been a better time to reflect on where you have been, and where you are going. It’s time to get serious about having complete financial and personal freedom in your life. We can show you how!

Be a Conscious Online Contributor – Part II
When I first wrote “Be a Conscious Online Contributor Part I,” I wondered how exactly I was going to be a conscious online contributor. Where should I begin?… and then I thought a lot about the Law of Attraction, and how it had helped countless others. The Law of Attraction is based on the belief that ‘like attracts like,’ and it taught me how to build confidence in my own ability. The same is possible for anyone on a global level and it is easily translatable into any field. One thing that I noticed over and over again was that it was the Law of Attraction that enabled many in the personal development arenas of wealth, health and wisdom make new friends and business contacts. People were constantly coming to them, and they were drawn to them easily.
How do I write something that would have true meaning? Then it hit me, I remembered one particular speech that really resonated with me. It was when I heard Wayne Root speak on one of the Wealth Masters CD’s in the m1 Series. Some of you have never met Wayne, but for me, he’s the real deal! He’s a butcher’s son who strongly believed in himself and his goals. He hosted five shows on television and became a Vice Presidential Nominee for the Libertarian party all in a few short years. The highlight of his amazing speech was this “The antidote to all of this is, goals, you have to have goals in life. I’m the guy who believes in the relentless pursuit of goals. Goals are magical, they are amazing, they are magnificent they just light your life up. Once you have goals and you agree that you are confident, and you are going to stick with them, and you have faith in your dream, nobody can stop you.”
Wayne spoke to several hundred people that day, and shared some fascinating ideas on how the American Dream is alive and well, and it’s waiting for you at WMI. He made me realize that we all can be contributors. That you will fail at something many times before you come to the realization when you truly find your passion you can succeed at almost anything!
Wayne shared these ideas and he was a great presenter — I recall that when I first heard his voice he seemed a bit ‘in your face’ — but I doubt anyone in the audience cared. He delivered value by sharing what he knew best. That was a key takeaway for me. I realized I didn’t have to be a great writer or even a keynote speaker to be able to make a contribution to my field. All that is required is that the content be worthwhile. Wayne shared his story in a spirit of giving and by being genuine, and wouldn’t you know the audience just ate it up!
I realized in that my years of working in corporations and years of being an entrepreneur I’d figured out a few things. I realized that I wanted to pass on knowledge and advice that I imagined others would find useful. Some of these were ideas on how you can make a difference, and others related to marketing, research and social media.
Last year I started by writing an articles and posting them for free on ezinearticles.com You may not know much about EzineArticles.com it is a matching service that brings real-world experts and ezine publishers together. Expert Authors & Writers post their articles to be featured within the site. Their searchable database of hundreds if not thousands of quality original articles allows email newsletter publishers that are hungry for up to date content to find articles that they can use for their newsletters.
My articles are always based on extensive research and include parts of my own personal experiences in the areas of wealth, health and wisdom. What I learned was that my articles were only seen by a small group of people, no more than a hundred to be exact. What actually kept me writing was the feedback, which was for the most part positive and encouraging. Face it, you are always going to have someone who agrees with your point of view, and then there are others who want to tackle you head on. The fact is my writing was and still is inspiring enough to keep me going. I love reading the comments about how people tell me that they took my advice and never looked back. Wow! Now that’s what I call progress, not perfection. Writing is truly gratifying… and the process of building a following is gradually coming together slowly but surely and it’s mainly due to the Laws of Attraction.
There’s never been a better time to reflect on where you have been, and where you are going. It’s time to get serious about having complete financial and personal freedom in your life. We can show you how!

Be a Conscious Online Contributor – Part I
Many people ask me how I know so many inspirational people. The answer is simple. I attract them, and I’m attracted to them! So what’s the best way to attract interesting and inspiring people into your life? The answer shouldn’t surprise you, if you want to boost your overall success you can do so quite easily by actively by being a conscious online contributor in your field. Why? The benefits to those who contribute are: they get noticed and attract new friends and opportunities easily. Being a contributor is much easier than you might think.
Over the years I’ve had friends with careers in other professions. They’ve immersed themselves in the job market, while I chose a different route, that of an entrepreneur. You know the saying birds of a feather flock together? I came to the conclusion very early on that I needed to hang around other like-minded entrepreneurs so that we could help each other succeed on a more professional level.
When I became a part of the Wealth Masters International family I made more friends within my industry, people who were serious entrepreneurs, just like me. If you, like me, want to network more and to feel more connected and integrated then this is the definitely the program for you. I feel like I belong here and that my presence actually matters to a lot of people. Before connecting with WMI there were parts of making my business succeed that reminded me of a salmon swimming upstream. As an entrepreneur it can be a challenge trying to figure out everything for your self. Always an independent woman I came to the conclusion that I wanted more help and assistance. What became so crystal clear to me was that I recognized that I truly wanted people in my life who were able to offer me solutions and keep me abreast of new developments. I’m speaking from my heart and from the depths of my soul when I say that I got tired of doing things the hard way. And I, like you, wanted to find a more effective way of doing business.
Okay, now what? I decided it was time to take action. I’d do whatever it took to become more connected professionally. The best and most effective way to do that was to raise my profile within my field, so more people would know who I was. When you leverage that option you will undoubtedly begin to make more friends and contacts. Building contracts takes time, but I have dedicated myself to working in that field for the rest of my life, and I figured it would be beneficial over the long run. When you get started and see yourself in a better position down the road this is a goal that is well worth putting some time and effort into. Just by thinking about how my life would improve, and how my business could become more successful was the motivation I needed to kick my business into high gear!
As a young woman in my early twenties I was listening to self-help audio programs, and this ritual continues on to this very day. I noticed how often speakers in the areas of wealth, health and wisdom would name-drop other speakers. Did you know that Tony Robbins knows Deepak Chopra, and Deepak Chopra knows Dr. Wayne Dyer? There’s an “in crowd” out there, and yet I’ve never met some of these people, but I love what they stand for.
Professional communicators have an advantage when it comes to interpersonal networking, and it was clear there were social networks where countless numbers involved in the self-improvement field knew each other and often exchanged valuable insights. I was tired of being an outsider, and I needed get integrated into one or more of these networks. The question was how?
The best way to raise my profile was to contribute to my field. The people I respected most in the self-improvement fields — and the people who seemed to be the most well networked — were frequent and generous contributors both in the online and offline arena. Many of them spoke at conferences, wrote articles for magazines and journals, and published books. But, here’s the thing, they didn’t just work for themselves. They wanted to help others so they passed on their knowledge and helped to elevate everyone around them. I particularly admire WMI’s Kip Herriage (CEO/Co-Founder) Karl Bessey (President/Co-Founder), and Deanna Latson (keynote speaker and Health Educator) who helped to advance the field and who have helped countless individuals choose a life of prosperity as opposed to a life of poverty. I pondered what exactly I was to contribute, but that I’ll save for Part II!
There’s never been a better time to reflect on where you have been, and where you are going. It’s time to get serious about having complete financial and personal freedom in your life. We can show you how!

Be Proactive vs. Be Reactive – You Decide!
“Be Proactive” is habit #1 from Dr. Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. What does a proactive life reallylook like? Taking conscious control over your life, and setting goals and working to achieve them. Do you want to react to events and wait for opportunities, or go out and create your own events and opportunities?
Being proactive means that instead of reacting to events, you can consciously engineer your own events.
Many people think reactively. It can become a challenge and that’s all there is to a person’s life — nothing more than instinctively reacting to stimuli.
Stephen Covey points out that there’s a gap between stimulus and response, and within that gap lie the potential for us to choose our response. There are four special human endowments that give us this power:
Self-awareness – the understanding that you do have a choice between stimulus and response. If someone insults you, you can choose not to become angry.
Conscience – the ability to consult your inner compass to decide what is right for you. You can make decisions based on unchanging principles, regardless of what is socially favored at that time.
Creative Imagination – the ability to visualize alternative responses. By using your imagination, you can mentally generate and evaluate different options.
Independent Will – You have the freedom to choose your own unique response. You aren’t forced to conform to what others expect from you.
Some spend too much time in a state of low consciousness and never reach the level of awareness necessary to make proactive life decisions. Has your conscience has become confused by society’s conditioning? Are you sure what you want from life? Do you look to others to decide how you should feel? It can be a challenge to visualize alternatives, but also necessary not to be restricted by the pressures to conform to others’ expectations.
On some level there’s proof that exists we’re always reacting to events, whether they be on an external or internal level. The difference between proactivity and reactivity can then be viewed in terms of what degree of “mental processing” occurs during the gap between stimulus and response. A proactive person will apply the four human endowments to choose a response (or not to choose one). What’s key is that a proactive person will invest the time to make conscious life choices and follow through on them.
Reactive people tend to be out of touch with their core values. Instead of running their lives based on unchanging core principles, they pick up temporary values from others. If no special opportunities come their way, they’ll stay at the same job year after year. They go with the flow of the people and circumstances, but they don’t direct the flow. Their life is mostly lived on autopilot.
Proactive people are aware of their core values. They consciously make key decisions based on those values. They create their own opportunities and direct the flow of their own lives. Even when things are pretty good, they’re still making conscious choices. Proactive people will take actions that often seem mysterious to reactive people. They may suddenly quit their job to start a new business, even though everything seemed to be going well for them. A proactive person will still pay attention to external events, but they’ll pilot themselves to their desired destination regardless of those events.
Powerful examples of reactive vs. proactive language:
• Where is the industry going? [Where shall I go next, and how will I get there?]
• I don’t have time to exercise. [How shall I make time to exercise?]
• How much money can I expect to make if I do X? [How much money do I want to make, and what will I do to earn it?]
• I’ll try it and see what happens. [I'll do it.]
• Nothing really inspires me. [What would I tackle if I knew I couldn't fail?]
• What is the meaning of life? [What is the meaning I wish to give to my life?]
Everyone has a mixture of both proactivity and reactivity. You can be extremely proactive in one area, while other parts of your life have slipped into unconscious autopilot. Take time to use your human endowments of self-awareness, conscience, creative imagination, and independent will to shine a light on the areas of your life you’d like to work on and consciously choose to get things moving. If you don’t like where the currents are taking you, then change course. In the areas of wealth, health and wisdom, don’t wait for an opportunity to arrive; engineer your own!
The amazing people of WMI can show you a brighter future one that is true to yourself, and your family. What True Leadership Means To Me
Did you ever sit at a dinner table with other successful people and listen to their success stories? I personally made it my mission to try to figure out what true leadership means to me. Some nights I would just sit back and make a game out of it. Were they just born lucky, or natural leaders, or how did they get to where they are now? I came to the conclusion that whatever they were doing, they were doing something right. Well, a lot of things right, actually. Did you know that many of the ingredients that help to create a success story are actually riddled with failure? The only difference between the unsuccessful and the successful was that they learned from their failures. There’s nothing new about that.
I slowly came to the realization that true leadership and success go hand in hand. Success is a choice, and we all have to make the choice that we want to join in and achieve anything that we want in life. In a nutshell we have to change our thought process. When you’re on a path of personal growth, it’s inevitable you’re going to encounter obstacles along the way. It’s amazing the resistance you will encounter as you grow and change.
For example, look at all the successful leaders at Wealth Masters International and people around the world. What do they all have in common? Trials and tribulations. Think of all the failure stories that are out there. There are tons of them. The truth is we’ve all had failure. I can look at some of mine and say that was dumb, I probably shouldn’t have done that! What would have happened if I’d done something else? You better believe that I learned from the failure and was able to reframe it in terms of success.
When I was in my twenties I made the decision to quit my job on the spot. This was a big decision at the time. I’ll call this decision spontaneous, impetuous, or immature, or a combination of all three. One thing for sure… I could never go back. It was not going to happen, EVER. I had a great job there, and tons of overtime, nice coworkers, and a boss who put me down. When I quit my job I burned some of all my bridges. I don’t recommend this to anyone.
Since then, I’ve worked a lot on my attitude, and fell in love with talking about my dreams, my goals, my opportunities, and my positive ideas. There will always people in my life that insist on complaining about what they don’t like about their job, their boss, their coworkers and what’s worse they want you to participate in all of this insanity. Don’t go there.
I thought at the time no one around me can grasp what I’m going through. I have now thrown myself into a state of insecurity. Because having a nine to five job is security, right? Wrong… The moral of the story is that it took me another ten years to come to the realization that I could strike out on my own. Failure was not an option. That was the reason I went into my own business. I was now an entrepreneur.
Some of my friends and family thought I was nuts. It was this fire that fueled my decision to be successful. I always cared about what other people thought, and I was going to show everyone that being a self-employed entrepreneur would actually be a more lucrative endeavor. And it was. I was actually charging more per hour, working less and making more money. All the while I was challenging myself to problem solve effectively and save clients time and money.
I share with this others because I wasn’t afraid to do whatever it would take to be successful and that is what they really want to instill in the Wealth Masters members. They can achieve anything that they want in life if they are willing to work for it and stay focused.
We have seen it time and time again. The successful people. Their trials and tribulations. We’ve sat on the sidelines and watched them go through it. We’ve seen them struggle through and help others attain what they really want in life. And then we get it. Once we reprogram our minds then we just naturally have these positive thoughts and we have this confidence, and we have this posture, and at last people see you the way you want to be seen. Success is gained through your acts, through the work that you do, listening to positive information, reading positive information, and surrounding yourself with the kind of people you want to be. And that, my friends, is what true leadership means to me.
The amazing people of WMI can show you a brighter future one that is true to yourself, and your family.
